A comforting neon sign in the middle of the night.

In the middle of the night, a neon sign can be quite comforting.

I.F.- Emergency

Original based on this line: "We knew all the answers, And we shouted them like anthems" from the Scissor Sister's song, "It Can't Come Quickly Enough", but also, I think, appropriate for the I.F. theme of "Emergency".

Another submission for Illustration Friday.
I taught English in Japan and there was a game I played that worked on pronunciation and listening skills. A student would start off with a phrase at one end of the line and whisper it to the next student who would then repeat it to the next student. In most cases the phrase was alterd so much it was pretty funny.

For this drawing I attempted to hand draw the lettering in the text bubbles....It's not too clear. The left bubble should read, " I like eating prunes". The right bubble reads, "Ivan cheats spoons".

Should be read as, "Buddha Wired". I think it just sounds better that way.

More didgy illos.

Here's some more work stuff.
I usually draw pieces for the flash animator in house.
Here's some samples for an animation he's doing on healthy vs. junk food living.

Digital Illustrations

During the day, I earn my keep by working in the graphic design industry.
I was given an opportunity to do a little illo for an inhouse newsletter I designed as well. The article the illo accompanied was about the money saved by only using one elevator after a certain hour.
Here's the newsletter.(above)

And the initial illo (on the left) and the final one on the right.(top)

Happened upon this link a while ago. Some interesting points about pursuing the freelance life. You could read it here.

Always a bit nervous sketching in public...I'm trying to overcome that by doing it more often. Top image: sitting in a coffee shop by the water looking at this boat. middle image: the kitchen in my bachelor pad. bottom image: random people at the mall near my dad's place.

Sweet Belle

Well, finally finished the Queen Street sketch (as promised). What turned out to be just a sketch, evolved into a full blown drawing. Bits and pieces presented themselves on my walk home which I thought would be appropriate to this drawing.

Still trying to work on the technical side of this medium and figuring out what colours work with each other.
