Figure Drawing at the TSA

I spent three wonderful hours sketching this model at the TSA open figure drawing class tonight. This is my second time drawing her and by far she is the best model I drawn at these sessions. Steady as a rock.

On a technical note, sketching a 3 hour pose in pen seemed a lot like painting with watercolours. Every move had to be planned in advance or else the drawing as a whole wouldn't look right. I think I'll live on the edge again next week.

Figure drawing at the TSA

Its been a while since I've been to a figure drawing class. Tonight I decided to change that stat and went to the open figure drawing class at the Toronto School of Art. The session lasted 3 hours, with some breaks sprinkled amongst the 3 hours. All the poses were 10 and 15 minutes. Great length to just get down the essentials. I'll be sure  go to the next one.

The last spread of the evening. The drawing on the left is my favourite from the evening, nice and loose.

Figure drawing at the TSA

Yesterday I went to the Toronto School of Art for the open figure drawing class. It's been a while since I drew any nudes and it was nice to scrape the rust off from that part of my brain. The models name was Sidney (Or is it, "Syndey"). She was a great model and held some great, dynamic poses for the 1 minute poses (not shown). I'm sure I'll be back for more figure drawing in the future.

The blue arylic paintings were done in the afternoon session. It was one pose for three hours. Fortunately for me I was able to get in two angles. Unfortunately for Sidney, she had to hold it for the three hours. She dozed off a few times during that pose... who wouldn't!

The Keyhole Sessions

Warm-up sketches.

The Keyhole Sessions are an on going figure drawing class that occurs every Tuesday night at 8pm. It's advertised as "Not your grandma's life-drawing session" and rightly so. I attended tonight's session and Mara and Mattea were the models for the evening. Their poses were provocative and to some, could be considered a bit racy. However, I found them to be refreshing, a nice change from the traditional stuff done in academic type figure drawing sessions. So here are a few pages from tonight.

Nudes

The Ben Navaee Gallery holds free figure drawing classes every Wednesday night for two hours. Sounds like a deal to me!

It's been a while since I drew the human figure from a model and here are some of the less embarrassing pages I did tonight.
