For some reason I prefer and feel a lot more comfortable sketching in a Coffee Time, rather than a Starbucks or Second Cup... and I don't have to mortgage my non existent house for a coffee.
A yellow hydrant?! I like how you made it a feature. Love the sketch of the cafe too, it looks very relaxed in there - and if you drew Starbucks it really could be in Singapore! Went into one in Beijing last year and it was just like all the others!
Actually the cafe is a franchise and is considered one of the sketchier franchises in the city. BUT the coffee is decent and the clientele is a lot more colourful. As for the hydrant being the focus, it just happened that way due to my new credo: "if you're sitting, you;re drawing". I was sitting by a window and there she was.
In my current art practice, I am exploring the subtitles of oil paints, particularly within the the realm of portraiture.
My focus is on the human face because that's what we all see everyday. It's there ripe for the picking.

Lol about your coffee comment. Beautiful job with the sketching, you have really perfected this technique. I am enjoying looking through your blog.
